Free Trips to India

IFTA Director for India, Rtn. Rahul. K. Wadhwa gave away TRIPS to INDIA to Rotarians attending the 2007 RI convention. Visitors had two chances to win, via Registration and when they visited our IFTA booth at the convention. We generated quite a traffic jam and excitement along the Fellowship booth aisle !

IFTA Chairman PHF Rtn Rahul Wadhwa

Meet Rahul Wadhwa, your new IFTA Chairman for 2008-2010

PHF Rahul Wadhwa, MBA In Tourism, has been a Rotarian since 1996. He is also the Charter President of Agra Tajmahal D -3110 Rotary Club, Agra , UP , India. He lives in the historic city of Agra, India, where the 1st Wonder of The World, “ Tajmahal “, was built. He is married to his beautiful wife, Divya Wadhwa, meaning " The Light That Never Stops," and has one lovely 6 year old daughter with her named Palak Wadhwa, meaning "Eye Lashes." His father MPHF PDG Satish Wadhwa, meaning “Create Awareness & Take Action," has been a Rotarian for 30 years and the Past District Governor of D-3110 in 2000-2001 ( PRIP Frank J. Devlyn ). PHF Rahul Wadhwa has ran a travel company for the last 10 years with 100% of its inbound business from international travelers around the world to India, with offices in New Delhi, Agra ( India ), Jaipur, and Melbourne ( Australia ). He is currently establishing himself in the hospitality industry with the grand opening of a new hotel at the International Airport on Highway NH-8 in New Delhi. His goal at IFTA is to increase its member strength by 200% in the next 2 years and encourage all current members to retain their membership and enroll at least one new member into our great IFTA family.

PHF Rahul Wadhwa is a great admirer of Frank J. Deviyn and his work, including his blindness project. He and his father have decided to open a Rotary Eye Hospital in Agra India with IFTA support. He and his family believe that there is nothing you can give more to a blind person than the gift of sight. The Rotary Eye Hospital in Agra is the IFTA Service Project for 2009 - 2011. The entire project cost of the Eye Hospital is $400,000 USD which includes the land, building and equipment. The land has been purchased and donated by the Wadhwa family. An ophthalmic machine (Phaco emulsificator diplomax) has been donated by the Rotary club of Italy. And nearly $25,000 USD has been donated by various clubs and districts. This project needs to be completed by 2010. We are requesting for all Rotarians and their clubs to come forward and donate to this noble cause where small children and adults can benefit from.

IFTA members can help this project in three ways:

1) A donation of $2,600 USD ( Rs 1,00,000 ) or more
gets your Club/District, trust or society name displayed/inlaid permanently to the Front Entrance of the Hospital wall on a big marble slab.

2) A donation of $650 USD ( Rs 25,000 ) or more, gets your Club/District, trust or society name displayed/inlaid permanently on a wall Inside of the Hospital.

3) A d
onation of any amount will be appreciated as it brings us closer to our $400,000 USD project cost.

PHF Rahul Wadhwa would also like all IFTA Members and Rotarians to give their physical support to Eradicate Polio from India by helping to administer the large amounts of Polio vaccine on hand. We just need your presence to invite people out of their houses to receive the Polio Drops. We welcome the help of Rotarians and their companions from any district of the world to any Polio NID’s now and in the future.

I look forward to a great year of Rotary,

Message from Brian King, outgoing IFTA Chair 2004-2006

To the Members of the Rotary International Fellowship of Travel Agents

As my two year term as your chairman draws to a close, I would like to say just how much I have enjoyed the involvement.

It has been wonderful to see the true international side of Rotary, which one does not get to see to the same extent at the Club level.

Our Fellowship continues to grow, but will only do so with the input and communication from our members. We have the chance to grow in Rotary and at the same time grow our business through interchange with each other.

My personal thanks goes to our hardworking secretary, Rosey Wong, who really keeps the fellowship going – I like to thank her for helping me the last 2 years and she has asked that some of you volunteer to succeed her or assist some of her duties. Please volunteer and ensure that we participate when she asks for our help.

For those who are going to the RI Conference in Malmo & Copenhagen, have a great Rotary time, and to those who aren’t, please consider going in the future, as it is a really good way of meeting Rotary friends worldwide, and seeing just how Rotary International performs for us.

Finally, I would like to wish our incoming Chairman Roslyn Callao all the very best for her term, and also wish the Fellowship continued success and growth.

Yours in Rotary Fellowship

Brian W King

Chairman 2004 - 2006
